PIGEONS FROM HELL!!! What more do you want from a title? Based on Robert E. Howard's short story (he being the creator of Conan and Kull and Red Sonja), this is pure pulp thrill, pure blood and terror, fun fun fun!
Think Hitchcock's The Birds, crossed with Drag Me To Hell, and you have the right idea.
Horror cliches:
Old creepy house with old creepy legend. Check.
Motley crew of youngsters. Check.
Old wise man with powers. Check.
Whittling down by death of said motley crew. Check.
Demon/evil spirit/undead possession. Check.
Pigeons From Hell. Check.
An experienced writer doing a great, modern adaption of a classic story (apparently the final retort by Robert E. Howard to H.P.Lovecraft's silly idea that Southern USA had no good creepy legends), illustrated perfectly by an artist with an appropriate style. This is good fun, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a film come out of it - it's that good.
